And this was the last verse that preceded and it is His saying, "O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salat (prayer) on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salat (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), that is better for you if you did but know! Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salat (prayer) is finished..." (62:9-10). So Allaah addressed the Believers that they leave trade when the call for prayer has been made on the day of Jumu'ah. And the intent here is the second call which is when the Imaam is present (for to deliver khutbah).
As for the first call (to prayer), then Uthmaan bin Affaan (radiyallaahu anhu), when the population increased in Madinah, he ordered a preceding adhaan so that the people can start to prepare for attendance (at Jumu'ah prayer). And this (action of Uthmaan) was from the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Caliph, Uthmaan, whose Sunnah we have been commanded to follow, as the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, "Upon you is to follow my Sunnah, and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Caliphs after me."
And he has strayed who said that it is a bid'ah, and he has declared the Companions (radiyallaahu anhum) as fools and has declared the rightly-guided Caliph (Uthmaan) as a fool. And we say: You are the innovator (mubtadi') in this saying which you have claimed that it is a bid'ah. How can it be bid'ah when the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) has called it a Sunnah, "... the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Caliphs after me." However, those people (who say this) are foolish-minded, even if they are senior in age. How can you declare the Companions to be astray with their leader Uthmaan bin Affaan. And yet you claim that you are a person of the Sunnah? Rather, you are a person of bid'ah in this saying.
